Associates | Insolvency & Restructuring

Our client is a premier Australian firm that consistently handles some of the largest and most intricate restructuring matters in the Australian market. This group is known for its innovative approach to complex financial situations and its collaborative, flat-structure environment where junior lawyers work closely with partners to develop sophisticated strategies and deliver market-first solutions.

The Opportunity

The I&R practice is currently seeking a junior to mid-level Associate to join their team in Sydney and work closely with a prominent Partner and Restructuring specialist.  The practice focuses on a blend of front-end restructuring and transactional R&I, supported by necessary court applications rather than pure commercial litigation. 

In this role you will work alongside specialists in banking, corporate, and private equity to navigate the full range of formal and informal solvency and turnaround processes.  Key areas of focus include: managing formal and informal workouts and insolvency procedures; advising on distressed financing, opportunistic corporate acquisitions, and cross-border situations; and providing advice on defensive structuring, contingency planning, and complex bespoke insolvency structures.

About You

We are hoping to speak to I&R Lawyers with 2–4 years of post-qualification experience in a ranked practice.  We are open to various backgrounds including insolvency litigators looking to transition into a more front-end, transactional-focused practice or front-end finance lawyers looking to specialize in the restructuring and insolvency space.
